Piz Gloria is updated on a regular basis. Below are the changes made from most recent to earliest:
August 2024
- added a copy of Ian Fleming's "From Russia With Love" published by Penguin Modern Classics as part of a series entitled Crime and Espionage. This Penguin series comprises 33 titles from a selection of authors. I've included this book cover on the Special Releases page which also has a link to an image of some other titles in the series.
July 2024
- added a UK advanced proof copy of Kim Sherwood's "A Spy Like Me" published by Hemlock Press. The front and rear covers of this book can be found on the Proof Copies page. I'm going to scan the rear covers of all the other proofs for this page too.
June 2024
- did some website maintenance via Cloudflare.com and changed the website address from http to https. This eliminates issues with messages on web-browsers about this website being insecure or a security risk when viewed.
- added a US copy of Kim Sherwood's "Double Or Nothing" published by Wiliam Morrow.
May 2024
- added a new page titled Special Releases which features editions that were released as part of non-James Bond related series.
- added a new series featuring just two John Gardner novels: "Never Send Flowers" and "Seafire". I've named this US series the Short-lived Berkley series. No doubt this series inspired Raymond Benson's Jove Silhouette series.
- added links in red beneath many of the book images on the "By Author" pages which when clicked will take you to the complete series that feature this particular book.
- added the complete series of James Bond Jr novels written by John Vincent and published by Puffin Books in the US in 1992. This series comprises six novels and is based on the James Bond Jr animated TV series which comprised 65 episodes. I last mentioned some of these book purchases back in July 2023.
- added the complete series of James Bond Jr novels written by John Vincent and published by Fantail Books in the UK in 1993. Unlike the US Puffin Books series above, this set only includes four novels as it excluded "Sword Of Death" and "High Stakes".
April 2024
- received a proof copy of Kim Sherwood's latest novel in her 'Double-O trilogy' series "A Spy Like Me" published by Harper Collins in the U.S..
- acquired a copy of "For Your Eyes Only" published by Pan Books in 1966. It's a rare 16th printing that used a much thicker paper stock causing the paperback to be fatter or thicker than normal.
March 2024
- added a box set titled "Ian Fleming The James Bond Collection" containing the latest set of novels published in the UK by IFP (Ian Fleming Publications). The set is packaged in an attractive box and is limited to just 250 sets. It can be found on the Box Sets/Slipcases page.
February 2024
- added a copy of "Seafire" published by Berkley Books in 1995 that features yellow title text on the front cover. This is the 3rd printing which differs from the 1st printing which has silver title text. These covers can both be found here.
January 2024
- finally found a copy of Kim Sherwood's "Double Or Nothing" after a search that started last October. I'll scan the cover and add it to the site soon but here are more details.
- added a brand new page that features editions of James Bond titles printed in Australia or printed for Australia. I worked with a fellow Bond book collector Jochem G. to create this page and all of the editions displayed are from his own collection. The page can be found at Australian Editions.
December 2023
- added three paperbacks re-published by Ian Fleming Publications in the UK. They were Raymond Benson's "Zero Minus Ten" first published in 1977, Kingsley Amis' "Colonel Sun" first published in 1968, and John Pearson's "James Bond: The Authorized Biography Of 007" first published in 1973. Images of each of the covers can be found here as well as each of the relevant pages for each title on this website.
November 2023
- received a trade paperback size proof copy of Kim Sherwood's "Double Or Nothing" published by Harper Collins in the UK in September 2022. Instead of the title appearing on the front cover the book instead announces "James Bond Is Missing". The cover can be found on the Proof Copies page. This is the first of three titles in Kim Shwerwood's "Double O Trilogy" with another in the series due to be published in April 2024.
October 2023
- sadly no new James Bond paperbacks this month.
September 2023
- added a copy of Anthony Horowitz's "With A Mind To Kill" published by Harper Books in the US. This cover image can be found here.
August 2023
- finally renamed the Great Pan Ralph Vernon-Hunt series to the Director series by which it is more commonly known by James Bond enthusiasts and book collectors.
July 2023
- acquired the full set of Ian Fleming's paperbacks published by Ian Fleming Publications in April 2023 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the release of "Casino Royale" in 1953. The 70 Years Of 007 series can be found here.
- purchased four UK and three US James Bond titles. I can't say from which series at the moment as there are twelve books I'm chasing in total but I'll let you know as soon as I've acquired them all.
- purchased the mass market paperback size version of Anthony Horowitz's latest Bond adventure "With A Mind To Kill" published by Vintage. This 2023 edition can be found here.
June 2023
- purchased a copy of Charlie Higson's new Bond novel "On His Majesty's Secret Service" to celebrate King Charles III coronation. As this book is currently only available in hardback it won't be included on the website, however here's a post about it from my blog.
May 2023
- added a copy of "Casino Royale" published by Signet in the 1960's. It features a sticker on the cover that reads "Now an exciting new motion picture". I already have another copy of this paperback with a sticker on the cover however this one is perfectly round while my previous copy has an appearance similar to a cog. Both copies will be added to the US Movie Tie-In series.
- added another set of books to the Box Sets/Slipcases page. I purchased this set of five Charlie Higson - Young Bond books individually however they were once part of a set that was shrink-wrapped in plastic with a paper insert and have "Not for resale" printed on the back.
April 2023
- added five more examples of cover variations to the Slight Cover Variations page. These cover variations are (17) to (21). I have owned all these copies for a while but neglected to add them to this page.
- purchased another ESL (English Second Language) copy of "Dr No" printed by Hutchinson. This replaces my previous copy which had a badly creased cover.
March 2023
- so the "amazing" items I purchased have arrived. First is a Pan Books "Four Famous James Bond Thrillers" box set from 1973. I also received another two box sets from the same seller (John F.); a Triad Panther six book box set and a Triad Granada four book box set, both from the 1980's. All new box sets can be found at Box Sets/Slipcases.
- added an ESL (English Second Language) copy of "Diamonds Are Forever" to the Slight Cover Variations page. This copy is variation number 16 and has a slightly different Bulls-Eye logo to my previous copy.
February 2023
- no new additions to the website this month however I have managed to purchase some "amazing" items which I should receive next month in the mail.
January 2023
- added the ESL (English Second Language) copy of Charlie Higson's "Silverfin" published in 2020 by Penguin Readers, purchased by me in September 2022, to my new Graphic Paperback Novels page. Thanks to Matthew B. for inadvertently alerting me to the fact this cover was missing from the page on the great James Bond Collectable Books Worldwide Facebook group.
- added a new page to the website for the four James Bond - Find Your Fate adventures published by Ballantine Books in 1985 to coincide with the release of the film "A View To A Kill".
- added another new page to the website, this time for the two paperback sized James Bond Graphic Paperback Novels that exist.
- added a 2011 Penguin copy of "The Living Daylights" to the Modern Classics Series 2 page. This particular cover image has existed on the website for years but for some reason I hadn't linked it to this series.
- received another paperback sized graphic novel in the mail. I only recently realised I was missing this novel. It's Charlie Higson and Kev Walker's "Silverfin" published by Disney-Hyperion Books in 2010 in the U.S.. Here's my recent blog post about it. Now there are three covers on the new Graphic Paperback Novels page. I'm not aware of any other titles that exist in this size but would be happy to hear of more that might be out there.
- added a new page displaying all ten of the Box Sets/Slipcases I have in my collection. There are several box sets missing though (eg. "Signet" and "Pan") which I plan to add at a later time with photos sent from other James Bond collectors of their own sets.
December 2022
- added another paperback copy of William Boyd's "Solo" published by Vintage in 2014 to this website. This newer copy is smaller in size than the other UK Vintage published copy already shown on this website. I purchased this copy in April of this year at the Yarragon Annual Book Fair without realising it was smaller. It was just a great copy at a cheap price and I thought I'd add it to my spares. Luckily I revisited my spare copies recently and realised.
November 2022
- I've been hunting for this cover variation for 10 years since a visitor to the site, John F., told me about it in 2012. So I was stoked to finally find a copy of "From Russia With Love" published by Coronet in 1996 that has metallic silver type text where it says "Ian Fleming" on the cover and spine. The standard cover has the author's name in grey text. The cover comparisons for this title can be found at 15) From Russia With Love.
October 2022
- purchased a copy of Kim Sherwood's novel "Double Or Nothing" published by Harper Collins and set in the world of James Bond. This novel was released just last month.
September 2022
- purchased an ESL (English Second Language) copy of Charlie Higson's "Silverfin" which was published in 2020 by Penguin Readers. This is basically an abridged version of the Young James Bond novel in black-and-white graphics.
- acquired a copy of Jeffery Deaver's "Carte Blanche" published in the US by Pocket Star Books in 2011. This copy says "For International Sale" on the back cover and is smaller in size than the standard size "Carte Blanche" published by Pocket Star Books in 2012.
August 2022
- acquired a Granada box set of four Ian Fleming novels which are part of the Girls On Guns series. I imagine the set would have originally been sold in the early 1980's.
- received another copy of John Gardner's "Nobody Lives For Ever" published by Coronet in 1986. This copy looks unread and has a perfect spine so I've re-scanned it for the Coronet Sniper Series page.
- received a variant copy of John Gardner's "For Special Services" published by Berkley in 1986.
July 2022
- received a copy of the Goldsboro edition of "With A Mind To Kill" published by Jonathan Cape in May. It's a hardback so it won't appear on this website however here's some pictures anyway.
June 2022
- purchased a copy of Anthony Horowitz's "With A Mind To Kill" published by Jonathan Cape last month on May 26.
- added a new page to this website for the Coronet-General Books MasterSpy Series which were all printed in Canada in the 1980's. I've always been reluctant to create pages on the website for Coronet-General Books printings as I've always thought the covers were identical to the Coronet MasterSpy Series printed in the UK and only differing by the word "General" on the cover. However after recently discovering a couple of variations I've realised a dedicated page was necessary. Will I start collecting other series of Coronet-General Books... only time will tell !
May 2022
- acquired two copies of John Gardner's "Icebreaker" published in 1983 by Coronet-General Books. These copies were both printed in Canada. One copy has a cover featuring light blue title text instead of the standard metallic silver colour. The other copy is a non-"white fangs variant" cover that matches the same cover as a UK Coronet publishing. I wasn't aware either of these covers existing until I found them for sale on-line recently. These covers can be found on the Variations page.
- acquired a copy of John Gardner's "For Special Services" published in 1982 by Coronet-General Books that has misprinted title text. This cover can be found on the Less Common Books And Ephemera page.
April 2022
- acquired a first edition hardback of Raymond Benson's last James Bond adventure "The Man With The Red Tattoo" published by Hodder & Stoughton in 2002.
- purchased seven paperbacks printed by Berkley in the 1980's. I already have all the titles however most are unread in excellent condition so I will probably re-scan the covers for this website and replace any dodgy existing covers.
March 2022
- no new Bond books this month.
February 2022
- acquired a paperback copy of the newly re-published "Licence Renewed" by John Gardner to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the title's original release. Here's some photos of the paperback published by Orion Books. As this is the second re-published title by Orion with a similar cover, after "For Special Services", I have created a new series on this website titled John Gardner 40th Anniversary Series.
January 2022
- no new Bond books this month.
December 2021
- no new Bond books again this month. I've been searching without luck for a copy of the recent re-release of John Gardner's "Licence Renewed" from Orion Books. I'm told there are 39 copies still available in Australia but I haven't found a physical book store planning on stocking this book yet. So it looks like I'll have to order it in which isn't ideal with a matte cover susceptible to scuffing, and me wanting the best copy possible.
- my hardback collection increased again this month after finding another Jonathan Cape copy of Ian Fleming's "The Spy Who Loved Me" for sale. Unlike the same title I purchased in August this copy is a First Edition.
November 2021
- to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the release of John Gardner's "Licence Renewed" a new print of the novel will be released at the end of this month from Orion Books. The cover will be in the same series as this copy of John Gardner's "For Special Services". I'm not sure when this publication will hit the book shelves here in Australia but hopefully it won't be long.
October 2021
- no new Bond books again this month.
September 2021
- no new Bond books again this month.
August 2021
- unfortunately no new Bond books this month although I did pick-up a Jonathan Cape copy of "The Spy Who Loved Me" that will be added to my hardback collection. Let's hope the Covid lockdown in Melbourne ends soon so I can start venturing to second hand book stores again.
July 2021
- purchased a complete "Exclusive Limited Edition Video Set" for "Tomorrow Never Dies" released by MGM in 1998. The set includes a promotional copy of Raymond Benson's "Zero Minus Ten" which I already had in my collection plus a VHS copy of the film and movie cell. The complete set can be seen here. This set has taken me a looooong time to find complete like this.
June 2021
- managed to discover and purchase a second version of the paperback for the Coronet movie tie-in of "The World Is Not Enough". The novel was written by Raymond Benson in 1999 based on a screenplay. One cover features the text "Based on the screenplay by Neil Purvis and Robert Wade" while the new cover reads "Based on the screenplay by Neil Purvis & Robert Wade and Bruce Feirstein". The two covers can be found here. Strangely, "Goldeneye" written by John Gardner in 1995 had exactly the same type of variant covers for the Coronet movie tie-ins, one featuring Bruce Feirstein's name and one not. They both can be seen here.
May 2021
- unfortunately no new Bond books this month however I did acquire a boxset of Bond books published by Acturus Publishing Group. One day I will add a new page to this website to display all my boksets.
April 2021
- it's taken a while but I finally managed to find a great copy of John Gardner's James Bond novel "For Special Services". This edition was republished by Orion Books almost 40 years after it's initial release. Here's the cover.
- no new Bond paperbacks this month however I did purchase three Ian Fleming - Jonathan Cape hardbacks recently.

September 2020
- last month I found a new book on a website and purchased it. I thought it would arrive this month but sadly it hasn't. The mail is currently very slow due to covid restrictions, so fingers-crossed it will arrive next month.

December 2019
- unfortunately no new Bond books this month.
November 2019
- added a copy of Anthony Horowitz's "Forever And A Day" published by Harper. This cover is almost identical to the advance copy of the same novel I acquired last year. Both these covers can be found on the "Forever And A Day" page. If you'd like to read about a subtle difference I noticed when comparing the two covers click here.
October 2019
- no new Bond books this month.

- added a copy of "Diamonds Are Forever" published by Hutchinson in 1989. This copy replaces an earlier inferior copy shown on the Hutchinson Bulls-Eye series page.
January 2019
- no new Bond books this month.
December 2018
- I received two Bond paperbacks in the mail this month. They are "Dr No" movie tie-ins published by Signet in the 1960s. I already had a Signet "Dr No" movie tie-in cover shown on the website but these two new ones differ. So now I've included all three on the Slight Cover Variations page. Thanks Brad F. for your assistance.

August 2018
- no new Bond books this month unfortunately.
July 2018
- added a copy of Ian Fleming's "Dr No", published by Vintage Books. This novel was released as part of the Vintage Heroes and Villains series featuring books by other authors.
- added a copy of Ian Fleming's "Casino Royale", re-published by Vintage Books to coincide with the release of Anthony Horowitz's "Forever And A Day" and includes an introduction by him too. I've also added this book to the Promotional Copies page.
June 2018
- added a trade size copy of Anthony Horowitz's "Forever And A Day", published by Jonathan Cape. This novel was released on May 31 in the UK.
May 2018

February 2018
- unfortunately no new Bond books this month.
January 2018
- added a copy of Kate Westbrook's "The Moneypenny Diaries: Secret Servant", published by John Murray in 2006. It's great to finally be able to add a new cover to the site.
December 2017
- unfortunately 2017 has proven to be a laclustre year by me in acquiring new James Bond paperbacks for my collection and this website. A highlight was the release of Steve Cole's "Red Nemesis" published by Red Fox, and I did manage to add a few other covers here and there, but overall I'm optomistic 2018 will prove to be a more successful year. I'm also looking forward in 2018 to the release of Anthony Horowitz's second, and currently untitled, Bond thriller following on from his excellent "Trigger Mortis".
November 2017
- no new Bond books this month.
October 2017
- managed to find a better copy than the one I already had of "The Spy Who Loved Me" by Ian Fleming published by Signet in the 1960's. I'll update the website with a new cover image shortly.
September 2017
- acquired a large print paperback version of "Devil May Care" by Sebastian Faulks published by Random House in 2007. The cover matches the US hardback cover. I've added a scan of the cover to the "Devil May Care" page. Thanks Randy for the details of this book... it's been a while but I finally found a good copy.
August 2017
- yet again no new Bond books this month.
July 2017
- unfortunately no new Bond books this month.
June 2017
- no new Bond books this month.
May 2017
- added a copy of Steve Cole's "Red Nemesis" published by Red Fox. This is the fourth and apparently last Young Bond novel to be written by Steve Cole. I purchased this copy from a Waterstones store in London while on my recent trip there. It is currently not available in Australia. This book cover is part of the Red Fox series.
April 2017
- added a US "Special Edition" of "Silverfin" by Charlie Higson, published by Hyperion in 2006. The cover has been added to this page.
March 2017
- added two more series to the site for four books written by John Gardner in the 1990's. The author's name appears on all four covers in exactly the same font as the Coronet Weapons series. However there is sufficient difference for two more series to be added. I couldn't identify the artists who designed these covers so for lack of better series titles I've named them the Coronet Outline Font series and the Coronet Gold Font series.
- apart from the addition of the two series above no new Bond books were added to the site again this month.
February 2017
- I purchased a six book set of Ian Fleming paperbacks published by Triad Panther in 1978. Hopefully soon I'll be adding a new page to the website of James Bond Box Sets as I have quite a few now.

- a visitor to the site emailed me after noticing an error on the "Solo" by William Boyd page where a copy of the cover of "Strike Lightning" by Steve Cole was incorrectly appearing. This issue has now been rectified. Thanks Luke.
December 2016
- unfortunately no new Bond books again this month. However fingers crossed I might be purchasing a rare hardback next month !
November 2016
- unfortunately no new Bond books to add to my collection this month. I'm still searching though !
October 2016
- added a copy of Steve Cole's "Strike Lightning" published by Red Fox. This is the latest Young Bond novel released and the third by Steve Cole in the Red Fox series.
September 2016
- added a 23rd printing of Ian Fleming's "From Russia With Love" published in 1972 by Pan Books in the UK. The colour Pan Books logo only features on five books in the White Pan series (aka the Pan Model Series) and this book completes my set.
- added a US printing of Anthony Horowitz's "Trigger Mortis" published by Harper.
August 2016
- added a new page for the Red Fox series of Steve Cole's - Young Bond novels.
July 2016
- added a copy of Anthony Horowitz's "Trigger Mortis" published by Orion Books. This is the third copy of "Trigger Mortis" in my collection.

- added a copy of Charlie Higson's "By Royal Command" published by Puffin featuring the new "Young Bond" logo. This completes the Kev Walker Young Bond series 2.
- after travelling to Hobart, Tasmania for a weekend away with my wife I visited several book stores there and was fortunate to find a 3rd printing of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" published by Pan Books in 1964. While I already had a copy of this cover, this printing has a slight cover variation where the title text appears in blue/purple while the same text on all subsequent printings appears in light green. To see a comparison of these two covers side-by-side feel free to have a look at comparison 12 on the Slight Cover Variations page.
June 2016
- I finally managed to find two new books this month. Both of them are Young Bond paperbacks. The first is a copy of Steve Cole's "Shoot To Kill" published by Red Fox. For some reason this edition of the book is not available in Australia so I was fortunate to acquire it from a friend who visited Singapore. The second is a copy of Charlie Higson's "Hurricane Gold" published by Puffin featuring the new "Young Bond" logo. This is the fourth book I've purchased in the Kev Walker Young Bond series 2.
May 2016
- unfortunately still no new paperbacks this month.
April 2016
- yet again no new paperbacks added to the website (for the fourth month in a row) however it wasn't for want of trying. This month my wife and I travelled to New Zealand for a holiday with our friends and scoured many second-hand book stores looking for books. If you're interested there's more information and some photos on Collecting Piz Gloria.
March 2016
- for the third month in a row no new paperbacks added to the website.
February 2016
- again no new paperbacks added to the website this month.
January 2016
- unfortunately no new paperbacks added to the website this month. However I did manage to purchase a special edition hardback of "Trigger Mortis" by Anthony Horowitz. If you're interested check out further details at Collecting Piz Gloria.
December 2015
- added a new copy of Kingsley Amis' "Colonel Sun". This book was published by Vintage and is another addition to the Vintage 007 series. As far as I'm aware this is the first time the pseudonym Robert Markham has not appeared on the cover of an English language version of "Colonel Sun". It's also the first time this book has been in print in English since 1996, so it's a welcome return to the book shelf. Amazingly this cover image also marks 600 covers on this website !
- added a US proof copy of "Trigger Mortis" by Anthony Horowitz published by Harper Collins. This is the fifth proof copy in my collection of paperbacks.
- added a new omnibus of three Ian Fleming novels titled "The Spectre Trilogy". It was published by Vintage concurrently with the release of the new Daniel Craig - James Bond film "Spectre". The book contains the novels "Thunderball", "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and "You Only Live Twice". All my omnibus paperbacks can be found here.
November 2015
- added another movie tie-in of "Dr No" published by Great Pan in 1962. Alan T and Tim at Tikit both informed me about this cover and Alan was kind enough to sell me this copy. To see how it varies from the Pan edition of the same cover have a look at comparison 11 on the Slight Cover Variations page.
- added a new copy of "Goldfinger" published by Vintage to accompany the release of "Trigger Mortis". It includes "exclusive" material from the new Bond novel by Anthony Horowitz.
- added three John Gardner titles published by Pegasus: "Seafire", "Never Send Flowers" and "Cold Fall". These three titles complete the Pegasus Dan Mogford US 30th Anniversary series apart from the Gardner movie tie-ins which unfortunately may not be reprinted.
- added a copy of Charlie Higson's "Double Or Die" published by Puffin Books featuring the new "Young Bond" logo. This is the third book I've purchased in the Kev Walker Young Bond series 2.
October 2015
- added a new set of photos to Randy W's page in the Collector's Corner section of this website. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to add your own page in Collector's Corner.
- added a link on the Links page to a new website Collecting Ian Fleming & James Bond Books featuring many James Bond book covers as well as publication details and printing dates. I'm sure this new website will prove to be an invaluable reference for Bond collectors.
- added a cover of Anthony Horowitz's "Trigger Mortis" published by Orion Books in 2015.
September 2015
- added a copy of Ian Fleming's "From Russia With Love" published by Oxford University Press. This is the last book in the three book set I needed to acquire for the Oxford Progressive English Readers Series.
- added a copy of Ian Fleming's "For Your Eyes Only" published by Longman Structural Readers. I've since realised that I already have a copy of "Thunderball" with a similar cover so I've added a new page titled Longman Structural Readers Series 2.
August 2015
- added a second Oxford Progressive English Readers Series 2 after purchasing one in this series and realising I already had another two. The first series can be found here.
- split the White Pan Series published by Pan Books in the 1970s into two different pages based on the colour of the Pan logo in the top left corner of the cover. One has become the White Pan Series - Black Logo while the other has become the White Pan Series - Colour Logo. The only cover currently missing is "From Russia With Love" with the colour logo.
July 2015
- added a cover of Charlie Higson's "Silverfin" published by Disney-Hyperion in 2009. This is part of the "Young Bond" series which has the numeric number (in this case "Book 1") beneath the "Young Bond" logo.
June 2015
- added a copy of John Gardner's "Icebreaker" published by Berkley Books in 1986. The white text on the cover that reads "James Bond" differs from the previous copy of this novel I had which is in gold text. I'll soon be adding these covers to the Slight Cover Variations page.
- added a copy of Charlie Higson's "Blood Fever" published by Puffin featuring the new "Young Bond" logo. This is the second book I have purchased belonging to the Kev Walker Young Bond series 2 page this month.
- added the new page Proof Copies. Obviously these aren't all of the different paperback proofs available but it's a start.
- added a copy of Charlie Higson's "Silverfin" published by Puffin featuring the new "Young Bond" logo. As the rest of Higson's Young Bond novels are also be reprinted with the new logo I've added the new Kev Walker Young Bond series 2 for when I purchase the rest of this series.
- updated some text on the Slight Cover Variations page regarding the brown and green copies of "Octopussy" from the "Still Life Series" after a post on the James Bond Collectable Books Worldwide Facebook page. If you're a Bond collector I definitely suggest joining this group.
- I've just added a blog entry on my trip to Piz Gloria in Switzerland in May so please check it out at Collecting Piz Gloria.
May 2015
- added a link to the excellent James Bond Dossier website on the Links page.
- I've just returned from overseas. I was unable to find any new English language Bond books but I did find a few foreign language ones. These will be shown on the blog soon.
April 2015
- I'm currently hunting for Bond books while on a tour of four countries in Europe with my wife. If you're interested please check out the details on the Collecting Piz Gloria blog.
March 2015
- no new books so far this month however I have changed the website appearance including adding large buttons to the home page and Next/Previous buttons to other pages to make navigation much easier and quicker.
February 2015
- added a new page solely to display Slight Cover Variations of James Bond paperbacks.
- added a variant cover of "Octopussy" published by Signet in 1967. This cover along with the similar cover can be found on the Slight Cover Variations page under Pairs Of Variations.
January 2015
- finally managed to purchase and link a new scanner to my computer and have now added the two books I purchased last month - "Shoot To Kill" by Steve Cole published in 2014 by Doubleday and "You Only Live Twice" published in 1984 by Oxford University Press.
December 2014
- I've purchased two Bond paperbacks this month however I'm unable to scan the images and add them to the website (due to my scanner breaking down). One was "Shoot To Kill" by Steve Cole published in 2014 by Doubleday. The second was an ESL copy of "You Only Live Twice" published in 1984 by Oxford University Press.
November 2014
- added a copy of "Moonraker" published by Oxford University Press. As it is now obvious this is a series of ESL books I have created the Progressive English Readers series page.
October 2014
- sorry, no new books added to the website this month. However I've still been busy:
1) There's a book in the mail which should arrive next month,
2) I've done plenty of book hunting so be sure to check out my recent travels at Collecting Piz Gloria, and
3) I purchased a Berkley Books - James Bond order form from the 1980's which was a nice addition to my collection.
- I've also added a list of some other blogs to check out that I regularly visit. The list can be found on the right hand side of the Collecting Piz Gloria screen. Be sure to check them out as they're always interesting reading.
September 2014
- added a promotional copy of "Goldfinger" published by Vintage Books. It was given away for free with the November 2012 edition of GQ Magazine in the UK featuring Daniel Craig on the cover. Both the front and back covers of this book can be found on the Promotional Copies page.
August 2014
- sorry, nothing to report this month.
July 2014
- added another US cover of William Boyd's "Solo" published by Harper Perennial.
June 2014
- added another YouTube clip to the Why Piz Gloria page. This clip has been provided by Tony Faehse who recently emailed me after visiting this website. Tony explained he has been a Bond fan since first seeing the movies and reading the books as a teenager, and last year visited Schilthorn and Piz Gloria, as can be seen in this clip.
May 2014
- added another UK cover of William Boyd's "Solo" published by Vintage Books.
- added another YouTube fan-made trailer to the Why Piz Gloria page which was created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the film series. I like this trailer. It has been a bit quiet on the book front for me but I hope to scan the cover of a copy of William Boyd's "Solo" I recently purchased and add it to the website soon. This will be book number 575.
- added the cover artist beneath a number of book cover images however this is still a work in progress. I also hope to add the code/ISBN at a later stage.
April 2014
- added a fourth set of collector's photographs to the Collector's Corner section of this website. 009 - Artistic Licence Renewed writes the great Artistic Licence Renewed blog. If you're interested in contributing to Collector's Corner please get in touch.
March 2014
- unfortunately it looks like no new books will be added this month. However I've been doing plenty of book hunting so be sure to check out my blog.
February 2014
- added the covers for "The Man From Barbarossa" and "Death Is Forever" to the Pegasus Dan Mogford US 30th Anniversary series.
- added a cover of William Boyd's "Solo" published by Harper.
- added a third set of collector's photographs to the Collector's Corner section of this website. This time it's Dan G from the UK. Please email me if you too would like to contribute to Collector's Corner.
January 2014
- added two prototype Penguin covers of "Casino Royale" to the Prototype Covers page. These are almost the same cover as the two added below.
- added two covers of "Casino Royale" published by Penguin circa 2006 (they are both dated 2002) that are basically movie tie-ins. One reads "Soon to be a major motion picture" while the other reads "Now a major motion picture". This brings the total number of these cover variations to six. As the two covers I have just added to the website are relatively uncommon I have added them to the Slight Cover Variations page too.
- added an Uncorrected Advance Proof cover of Charlie Higson's "Blood Fever" published by Miramax Books / Hyperion in 2006. Probably as it was a proof copy the cover art for this US book used the same cover art as the UK edition which is quite unusual.
December 2013
- added a cover of "The James Bond Collection" published by Thomas & Mercer in 2013. This book contains three Ian Fleming titles and can be found on the Omnibuses page of the website.
November 2013
- added a cover of "Doctor No" published by Signet in 1958. I've been hunting for a copy of this book for a while now. If you're interested further details can be found in this blog entry.
- added a cover of the International Edition of Charlie Higson's "SilverFin" published by Miramax Books / Hyperion in 2005.
- added a second set of collector's photographs to the Collector's Corner section of this website. This time it's Randy W from the USA. If you would also like to contribute to Collector's Corner please let me know.
October 2013
- added a variation cover of Christopher Wood's "James Bond, The Spy Who Loved Me" published by Panther. Details of the variation can be found on the Slight Cover Variations page of the website under Pairs Of Variations.
- added a cover of "Solo" published by Jonathan Cape. This is the first cover of William Boyd's novel to be included on the website.
- added a first edition paperback copy of "Blood Fever" published by Puffin that reads "The Number One Bestseller" at the top of the cover. I had previously believed this cover only existed as a prototype but Darren P proved me wrong after giving me a copy when I met him in London while my wife and I were on our recent "world tour". I had even added an image of this cover to the Prototype Covers page on this website but have since thankfully removed it.
- added a cover of "Licence Renewed" published by Coronet-General Books in Canada. The cover is similar to other Coronet covers of the time except it has a darker brown colour than normal and the gold tint of the text is missing. I found this book in a book store in Victoria, Canada.
- added a cover of "Blood Fever" published by Disney-Hyperion. I already had a similar "Blood Fever" cover but this one reads "Book 2" beneath the "Young Bond" logo whereas the previous copy reads "Book Two". I found this book in a book store in New York. As it is now apparent there are two different Disney-Hyperion series I have now split the Owen Richardson series into two which means I have further books to collect in both series.
- added a cover of "Carte Blanche" published by Pocket Books. This is a US international export edition which I found in a Thrift Store in Vancouver, Canada. This is the first of four covers I've added tonight which I previously featured in this blog entry.
September 2013
- fortunately several new book covers will be scanned and added to the website soon. My wife and I have just returned from a "world tour" of five countries. Please feel free to check out details of our trip including plenty of photos of our book hunting at the Collecting Piz Gloria blog.
August 2013
- sorry, still no new books to add to the website however I've added another link on the Links page, this time to a Bond blog entitled The Suits Of James Bond. Obviously it has nothing to do with books, however it's a really interesting blog.
- added a link on the Links page to a blog discussing the literary Bond entitled Artistic License Renewed.
July 2013
- have improved how the collector's images are displayed in the Collector's Corner section of this website. It's a little bit slow to load, probably because of the size of the images, but it's pretty cool when it works, and when it doesn't just press the refresh button (F5) ! Check out the first collector, John F.
- I've finally added the Collector's Corner section of this website. Only one collector so far but hopefully more to follow soon. Please feel free to check it out.
June 2013
- added a World Book Night 2013 copy of "Casino Royale" published by Vintage Books. It has a smaller image of the Vintage 007 series edition on the cover. I have also added this cover to the Promotional Copies page.
- added a 2006 uncorrected book proof of "Blood Fever" published by Puffin.
May 2013
- added a 2005 uncorrected book proof of "SilverFin" published by Puffin. This book also came with a silver foil bag which can be seen on my blog.
April 2013
- added the cover for "Win, Lose Or Die" to the Pegasus Dan Mogford US 30th Anniversary series.
- added the cover for "Brokenclaw" to the Pegasus Dan Mogford US 30th Anniversary series.
- Ok, not much of an update but I've just added the By Author - William Boyd - "Solo" menu option to the website. Of course there's no cover images yet for this title until the paperback is released later this year or early 2014, but it's great to have a new Bond title on the way. Here's a link for more info.
March 2013
- added a copy of "Casino Royale" to the Signet James Bond Thriller 007 series sans the "Now an exciting new motion picture" sticker. The sticker version is now solely found in the US Movie Tie-In series.
- a frequent visitor to this site, John F, sent me an email the other day about the Longman "Thunderball" cover which I coincidentally also acquired on the same day. In the same email however he pointed out that there are actually two covers for the "Casino Royale" movie tie-in from 2006. I had a look and he was 100% correct. The two books not only have slightly differing covers but the books are also different sizes. The Australian edition of this movie tie-in is slightly smaller than the international one, and the head of the woman in silhouette is not cropped at the top on the cover. Very strange! Check them out here in the UK Movie Tie-In series. Thanks for the heads up John.
- added a "The Man With The Golden Gun" from Macmillan to the Macmillan Readers series. I have also written about it in my blog if you're interested.
- added a 1990 copy of Longman Structural Readers "Thunderball". Despite the unusual cover image I've been trying to get a copy of this ESL (English Second Language) book for ages. I've added further details about this aquisition on my blog, again if you're interested.
February 2013
- added a copy of "For Your Eyes Only" to the Berkley/Charter Silhouette series. This copy was printed in 1983, prior to the release of the movie "A View To A Kill", which means that unlike the (almost identical) later Charter and Berkley purple covers it lacks the "Featuring From A View To A Kill" film tagline at the base. This is book cover 550 on this website.
January 2013
- added a copy of "Diamonds Are Forever" in the Signet James Bond Thriller 007 series. I've been missing this cover in this series for a long time so it's great to finally own it.
- added explanations about each of the covers shown on the Promotional Copies page. If anyone has any further information about these books please feel free to email me.
December 2012
- it's definitely been a quiet month for books so far, but hopefully I'll be adding at least two new covers later this month. I have however made a major change behind the scenes. This website was previously being hosted for free by FreeHostia.com, but I found that occasionally the website would go down for no apparent reason. I can't complain though because it was being hosted for free, but I'm now paying a small fee per month to the same web host which will make the website more reliable for visitors. Also, check out my blog Collecting Piz Gloria to find out what else has been going on.
- added a copy of "Hurricane Gold" to the Kev Walker Young Bond series. This is the final book in this series.
November 2012
- from comparing a 1979 Longman "Thunderball" to the "For Your Eyes Only" received the other day I have decided to new menu option for the Longman Structural Readers series.
- added a 1975 copy of Longman Structural Readers "For Your Eyes Only".
- added four more covers to the Orion Dan Mogford UK 30th Anniversary series. These titles were "Never Send Flowers", "Cold", "Goldeneye" and "Seafire" and now complete this series.
- added another Coronet "Dr No" variation to the Less Common Books And Ephemera page. This now brings to four the number of variations of this cover. Many thanks to John F who alerted me to this variation.
- added the last cover, "Diamonds Are Forever", in the Thomas & Mercer Archie Ferguson Black & White series. It's great to finally have them all together.
- replaced the 1967 Pan Books "Casino Royale" movie tie-in cover with a better copy. These white covers are prone to browning but somehow this copy has largely escaped the ravages of time.
October 2012
- added three more covers to the Thomas & Mercer Archie Ferguson Black & White series. I should receive the last remaining book in this series soon.
- added a copy of "Blood Fever" to the Kev Walker Young Bond series. There is now only one title to purchase in this series.
- added seven more covers to the Thomas & Mercer Archie Ferguson Black & White series. The remaining four books in this series are in the post.
- added three covers to the Thomas & Mercer Archie Ferguson Black & White series. I've received seven more in this series but will have to add them tomorrow. Not sure about the title I've given this series though.
- added the covers for "No Deals, Mr Bond" and "Scorpius" to the Pegasus Dan Mogford US 30th Anniversary series.
- added the remaining covers in the There Is Only One Bond series.
- added a copy of "Silverfin" to the Kev Walker Young Bond series. There are now only two titles to purchase in this series.
September 2012
- added the complete Vintage 007 series.
- sometimes there are days when nothing is updated on the website. But the truth is I spend quite a lot of time hunting for books and noticing Bond related stuff in Oz, none of which ever makes it to the website. So a few months ago I decided to start writing a blog, trying to explain what my life is like collecting Bond. It's probably a bit boring but here's the link. I'm going to try and keep updating it on a constant basis. Don't expect to read interviews with publishers, or previews of books about to be released. That's for other blogs who do it much better than I could ever do. This is more personal - one person's experiences as a Bond collector. If you do venture across it I hope you like it.
- added two titles to the Kev Walker Young Bond series. The other three covers in the series are available however I haven't purchased them yet.
August 2012
- added a new page titled Prototype Covers showing the many cover images that appear on the web but don't actually exist. I've been planning this page for ages but haven't been able to get around to adding it until now.
- added a cover of "The Man From Barbarossa" to the Orion Dan Mogford UK 30th Anniversary series.
- added a cover of "From Russia With Love" to the James Bond Thriller series. This is book cover 500 on this site.
- added two more covers to the There Is Only One Bond series. Only seven of these titles have been released so far. These two covers bring the grand total of covers shown on the site to 499.
- added five covers to the There Is Only One Bond series.
- added four more covers to the Orion Dan Mogford UK 30th Anniversary series. These titles were "Death Is Forever", "Licence To Kill", "Scorpius" and "Win, Lose Or Die".
- added the Richie Fahey US Retro Centenary series.
- added a misprinted Pan cover for "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" to the Less Common Books And Ephemera page.
- replaced a movie tie-in with another cover of "Dr No" to the James Bond Thriller series. I'm pretty sure there's only "From Russia With Love" to go with this series now.
July 2012
- added two more covers to the Orion Dan Mogford US 30th Anniversary series. It's only a minor detail but it's a shame the text on the covers of these two titles, "Role Of Honor" and "Nobody Lives Forever", matches the UK series instead of this US series.
- added five more covers to the Orion Dan Mogford UK 30th Anniversary series. These titles were "Icebreaker", "Role Of Honour", "Nobody Lives Forever", "No Deals, Mr Bond" and "Brokenclaw".
- added a UK cover of Jeffery Deaver's - Carte Blanche.
- added a "Goldfinger" from Macmillan to the Macmillan Readers Sniper series. I've communicated with Macmillan and there are only two in this series so it is now complete.
- added an unusual "Dr No" cover as part of the Signet Logo Missing Link section of the Less Common Books And Ephemera page.
- fixed an issue with the height of the grey border around each of the book covers. May not sound like much but it has been annoying me for months! Next step is trying to find a text colour that can be more easily read on top of this snow background.
June 2012
- added a 1979 "Thunderball" from Longman to the Thunderball covers. I first found this cover existed on Thunderball Obsessional via Gary J. Firuta. Thanks again Gary.
- added a "Dr No" from Macmillan to the Macmillan Readers Sniper series.
- renamed a series from "Coronet Series 3" to the Most Dangerous Bond series after John Cox on The Book Bond commented on the similarity of the silhouette with the current Bond at the time Timothy Dalton and a lack of a definitive series title on this website.
May 2012
- added a Jeffery Deaver book "The Edge" promoting "Carte Blanche" on the cover to the Less Common Books And Ephemera page.
- added links to the blogs SpyVibe and James Bond Memes on the Links page.
- added headings to the Less Common Books And Ephemera page.
- added a US cover of "For Your Eyes Only" to James Bond Thriller Series. Only "From Russia With Love" and a second "Dr No" needs to be added to this series now.
- for a bit of fun I added three pairs of books with colour variations on their covers to the Slight Cover Variations page.
- updated the Less Common Books And Ephemera with details about differences with "Dr No", "Licence Renewed" and "Icebreaker" from Coronet.
- added a US cover of Jeffery Deaver's - Carte Blanche.
- after being emailed that I was missing the "Octopussy" cover above I decided to go through my books title by title and immediately found a missing "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" variant cover which I've now added to the US Movie Tie-In series. It's only a slight difference but there's a Signet logo top right on one cover compared to the other. I scanned this cover ages ago but somehow had forgotten about it. I'll have to keep looking for more missing covers now.
- added another "Octopussy" cover to the UK Movie Tie-In series. Somehow I'd forgotten to add this book but a visitor to the site pointed it out. Thanks Simon.
April 2012
- added many of the Puffin Young Bond covers to Puffin Series 1 and Puffin Series 2. As I'm not aware who designed these covers I'm not sure what to call these series yet. Series names like 'Charlie Higson Name in Small Font series' and 'Charlie Higson Name in Large Font series' don't sound that great!
- added a link to the Andrew McNess penned retrospective study of "A View To A Kill" on the Links page.
- added another "By Royal Command" and linked together a set as Owen Richardson Young Bond series.
- added some rarer book items in the Less Common Books And Ephemera.
- added the Bond Omnibuses to Omnibuses.
- added more of my promotional Bond covers to Promotional Copies.
- added "Licence Renewed" and "For Special Services" to the Orion Dan Mogford UK 30th Anniversary series. Obviously as this series is still being released over this year I can only add those currently available. This is also the same for the Pegasus Dan Mogford US 30th Anniversary series. For the US series I added "License Renewed", "For Special Services" and "Icebreaker".
- renamed the 1960's Signets and split them into two series. Signet James Bond Thriller 007 series has a 007 in the left hand corner of the covers while Signet James Bond Thriller series doesn't. As you can see I'm missing three covers from these two series but fortunately they're pretty common so I'll try to acquire these ASAP. I'm also unsure what to do about "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" in the Signet covers as I've left these out of the aforementioned series but one cover has a 007 in the left corner?!
- added a cover I forgot to Sebastian Faulks - Devil May Care.
- added two Bantam Books covers for "Moonraker" and "Goldfinger" circa 1973.
- added the yellow promo edition of "Casino Royale" from Berkley Books in 1987 to Promotional Copies.
- added all the Charlie Higson - Young Bond covers I own, however I fear I'm missing a few covers after reviewing the Galleries on the discontinued The Young Bond Dossier website!
- added "From Russia With Love", "Moonraker" and "You Only Live Twice" Oxford English Readers books.
- added the Alpha Thriller Series.
- added the Hutchinson Bulls-Eye series including a previously missing "Casino Royale".
- added the Macmillan Readers series.
